Keep this tab open and your screen on. Browsers suspend background tabs, so the beeps stop if you switch away. The app keeps running with the screen locked.
Same timer, with the screen off
The app keeps the clock and the beeps going when your phone locks. Free on iOS and Android.
The moment the work stops fitting comfortably inside 45 seconds. Heavy squat singles, longer barbell complexes, sled pushes and anything that needs a walk back all belong on a two or three minute clock rather than a one minute one.
You will see these written as E2MOM, E3MOM and so on. E2MOM x 10 means every two minutes for ten rounds, so twenty minutes total.
The programming logic is identical to an EMOM: the work should occupy roughly half to three quarters of the interval, leaving genuine rest. What changes is only the size of the box.
One limit worth knowing before you start: a browser tab cannot make sound once your phone locks or you switch apps, because browsers suspend background tabs to save battery. For a workout where the phone sits in your pocket or face down on the floor, use the app instead. It keeps the clock and the beeps running with the screen off.
Every 2 Minutes On the Minute. At the top of each two minute block you do the prescribed work, and the remainder is rest.
For singles, 80 to 90 percent of your 1RM on a three minute clock is a common prescription. Use the 1RM calculator on this site to work out the loads.
Browsers suspend background tabs, so a web timer goes quiet the moment you switch apps. The Personal Records app keeps the clock and the beeps running with your phone in your pocket.
