Prior to 8:00: 3 rounds of 6 Chest-to-Bar + 6 Squat Snatches (95/65), then 3 rounds of 7 C2B + 5 Squat Snatches (135/95). Each completed section adds 4 minutes and a heavier bar: 185/135, 225/155, 245/175, 265/185.
Primary movement: C2B/Squat Snatch Ladder
Open 17.3 is the Open's squat snatch masterclass: an extending-window ladder where the bar climbs from 95/65 all the way to a theoretical 265/185, with chest-to-bar pull-ups taxing your grip before every barbell. It merged 16.2's elimination format with 12.2's snatch progression and added the full squat receive - meaning positions, not just power, decide your ceiling. The 185/135 section under a screaming heart rate is one of the great technical tests in Open history.

The early bars are cardio disguised as snatches: smooth touch-and-go or quick singles, never rushed into ugly positions - this workout no-reps sloppy depth. C2B in 4-3 or 4-4 protecting the pulling grip. Bank 45+ seconds before each new section for plates and two deep breaths. From 185/135 on, it's a weightlifting meet: full setup, full commitment, singles only. Your last successful bar is your score's headline - arrive at it fresh enough to actually lift it.
Scaled: chin-over-bar pull-ups and power snatches on a lighter ladder (45/35 to 135/95).
