Primary movement: Burpees/Snatch Ladder
Open 13.1 fused 12.1 and 12.2 into one long nightmare: descending burpee blocks interleaved with the ascending snatch ladder, for 17 minutes. The burpees guarantee you meet every barbell already gasping, which was exactly the point - 2013 opened by asking whether your snatch survives cardio debt. The 165/100 bar under a heaving chest remains one of the Open's most honest strength-under-fatigue questions.
| Level (Reps) | Men | Women |
|---|---|---|
| beginner | 100 (into bar 2) | 95 |
| intermediate | 130 (finish bar 2) | 125 |
| advanced | 150 (into bar 3) | 145 |
| elite | 170+ | 165+ |
Total reps in 17 minutes.
Burpees at genuine 70% - every one of the 100 is identical, and heroes at burpee 20 are pedestrians at snatch 135. First bar in big smooth sets; second bar instant singles with a 5-6 second cycle; third bar is a strength event: full reset, full commitment, zero misses. Stage plates beforehand. Your score lives at the third bar, so budget everything to arrive there with 4+ minutes.
Scaled: burpee blocks of 30-20-15-10 with snatches at 45/35 and 75/55 only. Beginner: halve the burpees, one light bar throughout.
