Open 12.2 Rx

The Workout

AMRAP 10 mins: 30 Snatches (75/45 lb), 30 Snatches (135/75 lb), 30 Snatches (165/100 lb), then max Snatches (210/120 lb).

Primary movement: Snatch Ladder

What is Open 12.2 Rx?

Open 12.2 invented the ascending-weight barbell ladder that the Open would reuse for a decade: 30 snatches at each rising weight inside 10 minutes, with plate changes on your own clock. The first bar is a formality, the second a workout, the third a strength test under massive fatigue - and the fourth (210/120) was touched by only a handful of humans in 2012. Your score tells you precisely where snatch strength stops being theoretical.

Tips & Strategy

First bar in 2-3 big touch-and-go sets, but never to failure - it's the toll booth, not the race. Second bar: fast singles immediately; don't test touch-and-go bravado at 135/75 while breathing hard. Pre-stage your plates for 15-second changes. At the third bar, full setup every single and fight for reps - each one is worth places. Power snatches throughout; save the squat for when the weight demands it.

Scaled & Beginner Versions

Scaled: 30 reps at 45/35, 30 at 75/55, then max at 95/65. Beginner: 10 minutes of light snatch practice in sets of 5.
