What is Quarterfinals 24.2?

Quarterfinals 24.2 comes from the 2024 CrossFit Quarterfinals - the second stage of the Games season, contested by the top ~25% of Open finishers: 3 rounds for time of 50 wall-ball shots (20/14 lb) and 50 lateral burpee box jump-overs (24/20 in). 300 total reps of pure leg-and-lung punishment with zero skill barrier: every rep is available to everyone, which is exactly what makes it terrible. The test is output decay - who slows down least across 15-25 minutes of repetitive large-muscle work.

Tips & Strategy

Break wall-balls into planned sets from the first round - 20-15-15 or 15-15-10-10, with breaks of 3 breaths maximum. The burpee box jump-overs must be metronomic: pick a 6-8 second cycle you can repeat 150 times and step over the box when your jump gets risky. There is no rest station, so build breathing into the movements themselves (breathe at the top of the box, at the catch of the ball). Round 2 is the dark place; hold your set scheme there mechanically.

Scaled & Beginner Versions

Scaled: 3 rounds of 35 wall-balls (14/10 lb) and 35 burpee step-overs (20 in). Beginner: 3 rounds of 25-and-25 with a light ball and low box. Cap the effort at 25 minutes.
