What is Open 26.1 Rx?

Open 26.1 opened the 2026 CrossFit Open as a 12-minute capped couplet built around a wall-ball pyramid: 20-30-40-66-40-30-20 wall-ball shots (20/14 lb to a 10/9 ft target) with 18 box jump-overs (24/20 in) between the first rounds and 18 medicine-ball box step-overs around the giant 66-rep center set. It's a legs-and-lungs test with a psychological centerpiece: the 66 wall-balls arrive exactly when your quads are most flooded, and the cap makes every break expensive.

12-minute cap; many scores are total reps at the cap (318 = finish).

Tips & Strategy

The workout is won by whoever handles the 66 best: break them into premeditated chunks (22-22-22 or 15s) with 3-breath rests, never reactive breaks. Before the 66, hold back slightly - the opening 20-30-40 should feel restrained. Box jump-overs at a step-over rhythm keep your quads alive; the med-ball step-overs are slow by design, so use them to breathe. Beating the 12-minute cap requires roughly steady 25 reps/minute overall - track your pace at the halfway point.

Scaled & Beginner Versions

Official scaled used a 14/10 lb ball (see the Scaled entry). Training version: cut the pyramid to 15-20-30-50-30-20-15 or lower the target; keep the giant middle set - it's the signature of the workout.
