10 Rounds For Time (40 cap): 9 Thrusters (95/65 lb), 35 Double-Unders.
Primary movement: Thrusters/DU
Open 17.5 closed 2017 with deceptive arithmetic: only 9 thrusters per round - but ten rounds of them, glued together by 350 double-unders. The thrusters are never hard and never over; the rope is never restful and never forgiving. It's a rhythm workout in its purest form: athletes who found a sustainable loop finished around 15 minutes feeling strangely composed, while those who sprinted round one spent rounds six through ten in single-under purgatory.
| Level (Time) | Men | Women |
|---|---|---|
| beginner | 30:00+ | 32:00+ |
| intermediate | 21:00 | 23:00 |
| advanced | 16:00 | 17:30 |
| elite | sub 12:30 | sub 14:00 |
Nine thrusters, always unbroken, always unhurried - the round lives or dies on how you arrive at the rope. Take one full breath before every double-under set; starting frantic is how 35 becomes 20+trip+15. Find your loop by round 2 (most sustainable athletes cycle 85-100 seconds per round) and become a metronome. The last two rounds are the only place speed belongs. Rope and bar three steps apart, no more.
Scaled: 65/45 lb thrusters and 35 single-unders per round.
